Describe plan using maths language

  • We positioned the desks behind each other because we wanted it to look a little bit like the olden days.
  • We rotated Mrs Andersons desk around so it’s facing the window and so she can have some fresh air and a great view
  • We used Metre rulers to measure the classroom
  • We scaled the classroom down from metres to centimetres so it could fit on the paper
  • We put group desks in front of the teachers desk because they might need help.
  • We changes the position of the maths shelf and the dictionary shelf and swapped it around
  • Instead of putting the math shelf in between the dictionary shelf and the bookcase we put the bookcase in between the dictionary shelf and the maths shelf.

Say what you did:
Miss Corbett explained to us what architecture is by using a demonstration of her sisters architecture work.

Soon after Miss Corbett wrote up on the board how big our classroom was then explained what our first task was that we had to do which was to make a scaled map drawing of our classroom.

My group and I found all the equipment that we needed and then got measuring with our metre rulers. The first thing we measured was the desk we measured how long it was and how wide they were. Afterwards we started to measure other things like the door, the computer desks. the whiteboard. teachers cupboard, teachers desk, the rubbish bin, the filing container, netbook  cupboards, the dictionary shelf, the bookcase, and the maths shelf.

Soon after most of my group and I scaled down the measurements so that it would be the right fit for our piece of paper e.g. if the maths shelf measured 240cm we would narrow it down to 24 cm.

We then had a choice of what coloured paper we wanted to use then cut the right measurements out and glued it onto the paper in the correct place to how our classroom looks.  Mrs Anderson then printed out some labels for us to stick onto the cut out pieces of papers so that we knew which object was which.

Our second task was to turn the cardboard around and do the exact same thing but change the position of classroom around for how we wanted it to look.

After a while we finally finished and they looked AWESOME!
