Dear Mrs Hallam, Mrs White, and Mrs Hill

Thank you so much for teaching us about how it was back in the old days and how they played and made games and toys.  My favourite outdoor game was playing double dutch with the ropes. The toys that I really liked  were the ones when you had to spin the wheel, and the  periscope, I thought that was fun!  I learnt a lot. Some of the things that I remember was that a cow has 4 stomachs and what the names were of some money was used back then. I also learnt some rules that you had to follow if you were a student in 1900. I’m glad I got to school in 2013 because I found sitting up straight and keeping my hands on my lap really challenging.  I found that the tour was really interesting when I saw how the houses, cottages, and tents that people back then had to live in.

This is a picture of me playing with the spinning wheel.

Once again thank you very much for your time and we hope to see you again soon.

Your sincerely,
Candice

This is a presentation that I have made on the primary, secondary, Hue, complementary, and tint/shade colours.

KWL What's Next

What’s Next
LI: To use a KWL chart help us think about how schooling has changed over time, and will
continue to change in the future

KWL charts help us to record the facts we know, the facts we want to find out and the facts we have learnt

  • Not allowed to wear bright colours.
  • You can not even smile or turn your head.
  • Not allowed to be in a car with any other male other than your father and your brother.
  • Not allowed to wear a skirt that is two inches above your ankles.
  • No blobs in your copy book.
  • In school when an adult walks into the classroom all the students need to stop what they are doing and stand up.
  • Not allowed to be married.
  • You are not allowed to smoke.
  • You may under no sercinstatcers die your hair.
  • You must wear at least two petticoats.
  • When you get home you must read the bible.
  • To keep the classroom neat and tidy you need to at least sweep the floor once a day, and scrub the floor.
  • Children were made march to their decks.
  • What happens now and why? To get disciplined we go on  detention, or get a growling, get  sent out of class, get sent home, or have to go to a different school.
  • How does is this different from the past and why? Now it is different because we do not get hit, you have digital learning, classes are warm, and teachers are kind.
  • What is causing the changes and why? Parents have made changes because they don’t want their children to get hurt and disciplining them by hitting them won’t make any difference it will just make kids scared.
  • What might happen in the future? I think nothing much will happen just more digital learning and more wonderful teachers.                                                                       What do you want to happen in the future and why? I want their to be more digital learning and education going on throughout all schools.

  • You weren't aloud to right with your left hand, you were only allowed to write with your right hand.  If you wrote with your left hand then  you would get caned.
  • There was no computers or any kind of technology used back in 1900.
  • If the boys wanted to go to the toilet they had to go outside because the teachers always wanted the toilets to be clean and to smell nice.
  • Children used to get caned 5 times with the ruler.
  • You were not aloud to wear more than 2 petticoats.
  • If your back was not straight the teacher would put a ruler at the back of your back with your arms over it to make you sit up straight.  You also had to write like that.

This is a KWL chart that I filled from what I know, what I want to find out, and what I have learnt.

Reflecting and Goal Setting Term 2-3

Reflecting and Goal Setting
Term 2-3

Reading:
This term I learnt how to look closely at a book by comparing characters, evaluating, summarising, predicting, making connections and learning new words. I also have been reading more often than I used to.

My reading goal for Term 3 is to read more often and do more challenging reading tasks.
To achieve my goal I will need to go to the library and and pick a good chapter book.
Writing:
This term I learnt how to write a persuasive speech using language features such as rethorical questions, hooks, emotive language, statements, opinions, statistics, and solutions in a persuasive speech planning framework sheet.

My writing goal for Term 3 is to use more powerful words in my writing.
To achieve my goal I will need to learn those words in my spelling book at home.
Maths:
This term I learnt how to say my basic facts quicker.

My maths goal for Term 3 is practise my times tables.
To achieve my goal I will need to learn them every night at home.

My personal goal for Term 3 is to be a rolemodle.

To achieve my goal I will need to stop having an attitude.

Compound sentence challenge

Compound Sentence Challenge:

LI: identify and create compound sentences

A compound sentence has two or more ideas joined together by connectives.
e.g: Sweets taste good, but they can be bad for you.
                   (sentence 1)    (connective)    (sentence 2)

Challenge 1:

Click on the image below to practise identifying compound sentences

Challenge 2:

Use this weeks word list to write a compound sentence about each word in your list.
eg: Sweets taste good, but they can be bad for you.
Angle-
An Angle can fly, and birds can too.
Bacon-
My mum likes bacon burgers, and I like them too.
Cadet-
The army requested cadets, when America declared war at Vietnam.
Crease-
I don’t like when my brother puts a crease in my clothes, then he will have to iron them.
Current-
Mrs Anderson sets us Current events tasks, while coming up with new learning ways to help us.
Death-
Some people have painful deaths, when others have peaceful ones.
Eagle-
An eagle is a bird, therefore a sparrow is a bird too.
Fancy-
Most couples have fancy weddings, however some don’t.
LIme-
Limes are green, when lettuce is too.
Grave-

Some people visit graves, when others are too scared too.

Here I had to complete this compound sentence challenge using the words from this weeks spelling words, I used connective words to join my sentences together.
